Admission System

The instructions for direct registration in various colleges and institutes of the university are issued after the release of the general comparison results at the beginning of each academic year. The following regulations are considered:

• Acceptance rates in university colleges and institutes according to the results of the general comparison issued at the beginning of each academic year.
• Compliance with the admission criteria specified by each college or institute according to the provisions of the general competition.
• Availability of vacancies.

Students have the right to change their registration within the IUSR based on the following conditions:

• Achieving the minimum acceptance grade in the registration year.
• Availability of vacancies.
• Being in good academic standing.
• Students are exempt from retaking courses they have previously passed in the transferred major if equivalent courses exist in the new major (according to the college’s decision regarding course equivalency). The number of credit hours for each course should be taken into account when studying the subject in the relevant department. The student should retain their previous grades in their academic record.

Students have the right to transfer from another university to one of the colleges or institutes of IUSR   based on the following conditions:

• The student must hold a Syrian high school certificate or its equivalent that allows them to enroll in the required major with an appropriate GPA for that major. The college’s council will specify the suitable GPA for transfer each semester, subject to approval by the university council.
• The student must not have been expelled from the transferring university for disciplinary reasons.
• Students transferring from another university are exempt from retaking courses they have previously passed in the transferring university if equivalent courses exist at the receiving university. This is subject to considering the number of credit hours for each course when studying the subject in the relevant department, and indicating the TC symbol for each credited course in their academic record.

• Students may be transferred from the two-semester system to the credit-hour system after evaluating the courses they have completed in the two-semester system based on the rules for credit transfer outlined in the internal regulations of each college or institute.
• The student must complete at least 50% of the approved credit hours for institutes and 25% for colleges. If necessary, the student may need to retake some courses they previously studied at the transferring university.
• Transfered students from another university must provide an official transcript with course descriptions for the courses they wish to receive credit for.

All students who have graduated from institutes, whether within or outside the university, are eligible to enroll in colleges that offer equivalent majors, subject to the conditions and regulations listed in the following table:

All students registered on the basis of an institute certificate are accepted at the specified level after the process of course equivalence.

The admission of students holding a bachelor’s degree in the university is allowed under the following conditions:

1. The student’s major must be aligned with the specialization they wish to enroll in.
2. The GPA in the bachelor’s degree should not be less than “Good” or an equivalent of 2.3 out of 4 according to the credit hour system.
3. If the student’s high school GPA is equal to or higher than the admission GPA of the college in the year of admission, they will be accepted without considering their bachelor’s degree GPA.
4. Students are exempt from retaking courses in the university they transferred from if there are equivalent courses, taking into account the number of credit hours for each course when studying the subject in the relevant department, and ensuring that the TC code is placed on each credited course in their academic record.
5. The exemption percentage should not exceed 25% of the total credit hours. If necessary, some courses studied at the transferring university may need to be retaken.
6. Transfer students from another university should provide an original transcript with authenticated grades and a description of the courses they wish to be credited.

• The original high school certificate (for verification) and two authenticated copies, or a success notification if the certificate is not yet issued.
• An authenticated copy of the grade report for transfer and upgrading students.
• An authenticated copy of the institute certificate or bachelor’s degree for students wishing to register based on an institute certificate or a bachelor’s degree.
• A copy of the personal identification (ID) card (a copy of the national ID card or an extract of enrollment). The registration form, which can be obtained from the Student Affairs Directorate. Four recent passport-sized photos (4×6 cm).
• A financial receipt for the annual administrative fees amounting to $50 USD, payable upon registration at the university, and non-refundable in case of student withdrawal or for any other reason.
• Students should pay the annual tuition fees in two installments when confirming their semester courses according to the credit hour system applied at the university, and paid fees will not be refunded for any reason. Students are required to provide the documentary evidence approved by the university’s administration to obtain full or partial scholarships.
• A written commitment from the student to adhere to the university’s rules, ethical standards, and scholarship conditions.
